The beginning of a New Year is one of my favorite times. It allows me to reflect on my past year and plan for the next year. 2016 was a year full of positives and negatives. It was a year full of challenges that forced me out of my comfort zone but ultimately taught me what things to prioritize in my life. Most importantly, it helped me shape how I vision 2017.

The year of intention.

Most of us say for the New Year we want to eat healthier, workout more, and have this be OUR year. Luckily for you I have tried all of those resolutions and can tell you the outcome...there is no outcome I'm still the same. So in lieu of making a cookie cutter resolution I have decided to mark 2017 as the year of intention. What the hell does that mean? Well, this is the year that I promise myself to pursue and maintain relationships of intention only. Now this does not just mean having relationships with romantic intentions (although that could be interesting...), this means having all of my relationships with true intention.

We should be having meaningful relationships that are full of intention rather than having a laundry list of relationships that are open ended. I recently had a conversation with someone who asked me why I hold onto relationships that don't mean anything but are just relationships full of memory. This person asked me what the point of keeping these ties were. And to be honest I didn't really have a response. I think one of the hardest things to do is to cut ties with people who may have been important at one time in your life but who aren't anymore. Humans are wired to hold onto memories (happy ones at least) to remind them of the good times. Maybe these memories are preventing us from making new ones. Maybe these unintentional ties are hindering us from creating new ties. So here's to having the best life of my life.

To new relationships of intentions only.
